Built from
the root.

Contemporary homes that carry the details of California architecture, planned street by street as one neighborhood in the Santa Clarita Valley.

What we build

A new California home,
and the place around it.

Homes in the Santa Clarita Valley that don’t look like every other street: contemporary, rooted in California architecture, and designed from the start as part of a whole neighborhood.

Conceptual rendering: an ancient wild olive tree with a twisted trunk and exposed roots on a dry hillside.
The oleastro · Conceptual rendering

Oleastro is the wild olive.

It’s the hardy tree whose deep roots survive drought, heat and centuries. For generations, growers have grafted new olive trees onto it, because whatever grows from a strong root grows strong too.

That’s how we build. We start with the part you’ll never see: the ground, the foundation, the decisions made long before the first wall goes up. Get the root right, and everything above it can flourish for generations.

We build homes for the families who live in them today, and for the ones who come after.

The tree and its roots are our mark.

Built around the view.

Light is a material.

Light

We design around the sun before we design the rooms. Deep roof overhangs shade the glass in summer and let the low winter sun in.

Air

Windows are placed across from each other so the evening breeze moves through the house. High-performance glass brings the view in and keeps the heat out.

Materials

Lime plaster, natural stone, solid wood, steel. Materials that age well instead of wearing out. We build for the second owner.

Next · One street

Then three homes. One street.

After Home One: a small group of homes on one street, held to the same principles.

Where Project One stands

Conceptual rendering: a single-story California modern home at dusk, stepped flat roof planes, stone and tall glass at the entry, olive trees and a native garden in front, hills behind.

Something real is coming.

One home first, built to the principles on this page. Follow Project One as it moves from site selection to the day the keys are handed over.

Conceptual rendering: a private enclave of about nine California modern homes at dusk along one winding lane, a park at its center with an olive grove, lawn, pond and a shaded pavilion, lit paths, hills behind.

Years later · A neighborhood

A private enclave, lights on.

We build for the second owner.

  • A private enclave

A gated enclave of a handful of homes.

  • One winding lane

A single lane that follows the land.

  • A park at its heart

An olive grove, a lawn, a pond and a shaded pavilion.

  • Lit walking trails

Trails that connect every home to the park.

Conceptual rendering: an aerial night view of a master-planned community of flat-roofed homes around two lit lakes and a green commons, a village center with string lights, a school with sports fields, and dark hills beyond.

Conceptual rendering

The long view · A vision, not a current project

A place people call home for generations.

  • Homes for every stage

Single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums: first homes, family homes and homes to grow old in, side by side.

  • A commons at the center

Water, open lawn and a place to gather, instead of a parking lot.

  • Everyday life close by

A school and a village center you can walk or bike to.

  • One phase at a time

Every phase is designed to stand on its own and to be worth inheriting.
